Dr Georgios Valogiannis

WELCOME

Hello, I am Georgios, welcome to my personal website!

I am an Eric and Wendy Schmidt AI in Science Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics and the Kavli Institute for Cosmological Physics at the University of Chicago. Previously I was a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Physics at Harvard University, working with Prof. Cora Dvorkin, and I received my PhD in Astronomy from Cornell University, under the supervision of Prof. Rachel Bean. 

I am a cosmologist broadly interested in testing fundamental physics with the large-scale structure (LSS) of the Universe, focusing on the nature of dark energy, dark matter, and gravity. My research combines analytical modeling, high-performance simulations, and machine learning–based inference to extract the full cosmological information from Stage-IV cosmic surveys.

I currently serve as co-lead of the Modeling and Combined Probes (MCP) working group within the LSST Dark Energy Science Collaboration (DESC) and co-lead of the Alternative Clustering Methods topical group in DESI. I am also a member of the NSF–Simons AI Institute for the Sky (SkAI), where I work on applying AI-driven field-level inference to cosmological data.
